State-of-the-art MIMO Performance in 900 MHz License Free Band

Doodle Labs announces general availability of a range of embedded wireless modules to enable state-of-the-art MIMO performance in the license free 900 MHz band. These modules have different system interfaces and designed to easily integrate into different modem architectures. The modules are field proven in various innovative Industrial IoT applications. The modules are FCC and IC certified for quick and easy market introduction of wireless equipment.

Broadband communication in 900 MHz band is highly desirable to achieve a good balance of range, penetration and throughput. Similar to Wi-FI, 900 MHz band is license free in large parts of the world. Because of the penetration and diffraction characteristics, the RF signals at 900 MHz can propagate further distances and penetrate through multiple building walls, vegetation and other obstacles. Hence the 900 MHz band is an excellent choice for deploying a private broadband network in license free band and avoid the recurring monthly cost of using public cellular network. Here are some application examples that are ideal for using these modules.

Prism-WiFi™ Transceivers

Doodle Labs’ Prism-WiFi transceivers are frequency shifted long range Industrial WiFi transceivers with miniPCIe interface.  They transceivers provide exceptional multi-path and NrLOS performance. The Prism-WiFi modules have software defined channel size of 5/10/20 MHz for spectrum efficient use. The Prism-WiFi’s flexible frequency interchangeable architecture allows customers to switch the operating band by simply swapping the transceiver. The NM-915 models provide 1W of RF power and it can transmit large amounts of data (e.g. 4K video) in real-time from over 20 km away. They are rugged in construction, vibration resistant and can withstand extended temp range of -40 °C to +85 °C. 

WiFi Frequency Shifters

Doodle Labs’ family of WiFi Frequency Shifters (WiFi-FES) provide flexibility to system integrators looking to deploy their existing wireless modems at special frequency bands to expand the market opportunities. The WiFi-FES is a simple in-line module placed between the radio modem and the antenna. Additionally, the WiFi-FES amplifies the Tx power and Rx gain to increase the wireless range. The WiFi-FES blocks can also integrate with newer generation SBC boards with built-in WiFi connectivity to develop Industrial Internet applications that require long range and avoid interference. HM-915 models shift the standard 2.4 GHz WiFi to operate in the 900 MHz band.

Smart Radio™

This newly released Smart Radio is a tiny, full-featured, embedded broadband MIMO radio and a rugged mesh router with Ethernet interface. It employs Doodle Labs proprietary BII™ technology (Broadband for IIoT) with state-of-the-art RF and networking capabilities to enable IIoT developers leverage robust wireless to communicate further, faster, and more reliably than ever before. Doodle Labs’ Smart Radio has been designed to allow OEMs to rapidly develop new Industrial IoT applications.
