In 1999, Nimesh founded smartBridges, the predecessor to Doodle Labs, on the belief that Wi-Fi technology was being underutilized in range-limited applications. smartBridges quickly became an industry pioneer, building long-range wireless solutions on the Wi-Fi protocol and setting the foundation for what would become Doodle Labs.
In 2008, Doodle Labs was established as a spin-out of smartBridges to focus exclusively on serving OEM customers. By dedicating its expertise to RF innovation and industrial-grade wireless systems, the company positioned itself as a trusted partner for robotics and advanced communications.
In 2013, Doodle Labs introduced frequency-shifted industrial Wi-Fi transceivers. This marked a critical step forward in enabling flexible and reliable connectivity across a wide range of global frequency bands. The innovation allowed OEMs to extend connectivity into environments where conventional radios could not perform.
2018 marked a major milestone with the launch of the Mesh Rider Radio platform. Designed to deliver ultra-reliable, low-latency, and high-throughput links, Mesh Rider Radios became the communications backbone for drones, robotics, and other mobile platforms operating in complex environments.
In 2020, Doodle Labs received U.S. Army and DIU funding for the development of next-generation Mesh Rider Radios. This validation reinforced the company’s role as a critical enabler of defense communications and expanded its footprint in Programs of Record.
In 2021, Doodle Labs introduced multi-band Mesh Rider Radios, unlocking seamless operation across a wider frequency range. This advance increased resiliency, supported global interoperability, and enabled more complex multi-domain operations.
By 2023, Doodle Labs had advanced capabilities even further, with technologies designed to support larger and more distributed fleets. These innovations strengthened the resilience, scalability, and flexibility of mesh networks for defense and commercial robotics.
In 2024, the company released the Wearable Mesh Rider Radio, expanding the platform into a ruggedized, soldier-worn form factor. This milestone brought battlefield-proven capabilities directly to the edge, allowing operators to seamlessly integrate with unmanned systems and maintain resilient connectivity in contested environments.
