As a testament, the United States DoD and Defense Innovation Unit have chosen the Doodle Labs Smart Radio as the primary radio vendor for the Blue UAS ecosystem. Additionally, the U.S. Air Force has provided sponsorship to further develop advanced features into the Smart Radio platform.

Long-Range and High Throughput

The Smart Radios are able to meet the various data speed and distance requirements. The mobile assets will always stay connected with field-tested aerial data links up to 116 kilometers. Even at 10 km, the Smart Radio can support streaming of crystal clear 4K surveillance video from a drone and even multiple video streams can be multi-cast to several ground based control stations.

C4ISR on an Ultra-Reliable Datalink

The Smart Radio’s mesh provides multi-hop relay for performing C4ISR (Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance) over a very long range. The data aware PHY and MAC provide the most reliable and low-latency URLLC for sensitive Command and Control data. Additionally, it optimizes the radio link to carry crystal clear 4K and HD video streaming over long range. The distance based Automatic Transmit Power Control (ATPC) technology conserves battery power to extend the mission time.

SWaP-C

All UAS need small size, weight, power, and cost (SWaP-C). Flight times are directly correlated to the size and weight of the flyer. Smart Radios are available in multiple form factors and are as light as just 25 grams.

Low Latency C&C, Video, Telemetry

Advanced traffic prioritization of Ultra Reliable Low Latency Channel (URLLC) for all Command and Control traffic and concurrent multicast video streaming of 4k video on the same link.

Frequency Flex

The hybrid SDR technology enables a large family of form factor compatible models in 100 MHz to 6 GHz frequency bands. Simply swap out the radio based on the end-customer or country requirements.

AI

As UAS become more advanced, onboard Artificial Intelligence (AI) plays a significant role. Doodle Labs has seamlessly integrated the Smart Radio with the leading AI engines from Jetson and Qualcomm.

The multi-hop relay capabilities of the Smart Radios extend the operating range. One of our customers has successfully demonstrated up to 11 hops with video transmission. The self-forming and self-healing mesh simplifies drone swarming.

The Nano and OEM-mini form factor of the Smart Radio is for an extreme space and weight constrained UAS. It weighs only 20 and 40 grams respectively.

The Embedded form factor is to simplify the radio integration. It is about the size of half a deck of cards and weighs only 70 grams.
