Over the years, Doodle Labs radios have become the trusted choice for several US Department of Defense (DoD) programs of record. Moreover, Doodle Labs has been selected by the Defense Innovation Unit (DIU) and AFWERX to build the networking architecture for the US Government’s UAS ecosystem. 

Mesh Rider - A State-of-the-art Waveform

Doodle Labs has developed a state-of-the-art and patented Mesh Rider technology. It provides an ultra-reliable, low latency, long-range, high-speed networking solution. This exciting technology is integrated into every Smart Radio.

Multi-Band Helix Radios

Quick global deployment flexibility of equipment is a very important requirement for the field operations. DIU tasked Doodle Labs to develop multi-band Smart Radio Helix that can be software controlled to operate in one of the six important DoD frequency bands. Doodle Labs patented Mesh Rider technology is employed here to meet this objective.

Helix operates on six bands (M1-M6) within 1625-2510 MHz. This frequency range removes a large operational complexity for government customers who have deployments around the world.

A Versatile MANET Radio Platform

Smart Radio provides an ultra-reliable, low latency, long-range, high-speed link to implement military-grade MANET networks. It is available in several use-case optimized form factors to meet any deployment requirements.

Long-Range and High Throughput

The Smart Radios are able to meet the various data speed and distance requirements. The mobile assets will always stay connected with field-tested aerial data links up to 116 kilometers. Even at 10 km, the Smart Radio can support streaming of crystal clear 4K surveillance video from a drone and even multiple video streams can be multi-cast to several ground based control stations.

The Smart Radio’s data aware PHY and MAC provide the most reliable and low-latency URLLC for sensitive Command and Control data. Additionally, it optimizes the radio link to carry crystal clear 4K and HD video streaming over long range. Smart Radio’s extremely low SWaP make it suitable for easy man-pack operation. The Smart Radio’s mesh provides node relay for performing C4ISR (Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance) over a very long range.

Long-Range Ground Vehicles

Doodle Labs family of Smart Radios allow a careful trade-off in range and penetration. Our customers have achieved more than a Km LOS range even with low height robots.

Breadcrumb Relay

The Mesh Rider OS features breadcrumb Relay mode to extend the range and go around the obstructions. One of our customers has successfully demonstrated up to 11 hops with video transmission.

Anti-Jamming

Multi-band Smart Radios with mesh can effectively block any attempts at jamming the communications. The radios can hop over different bands to reduce the possibility of detection. The multi-band Smart Radios meshed together can find alternate communication paths even when one frequency path is blocked by jammers.

Smart Radio has been integration tested with the leading tools, standards and ecosystems used in many industries. Q Ground Control

QGroundControl provides full flight control and vehicle setup for autonomous vehicles. It provides easy and straightforward usage, while still delivering high end features. Refer to Doodle Labs application note for integrating Smart Radio with QGroundControl.

Team Awareness Kit (ATAK)

Team Awareness Kit (ATAK) developed by the Air Force Research Labs is a game changer for increasing the user’s awareness of team activities in the area of operation. Smart Radio fully integrates with ATAK to leverage the high throughput multi-media communication for audio, video and data collaboration among widely spread out teams in the field.

Federal and NATO Bands

The Smart Radio is form factor compatible across the frequency range – 100 MHz to 6 GHz, making it as simple as dropping in the model for the required frequency band across all Federal and NATO Bands, while eliminating the need to redesign the equipment.

Smart Radios are NDAA compliant and can be used by all US Govt agencies. 

Additionally, we can configure the radio to meet wide variety of band/channel plans for special projects.
